Four Victims Wounded at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Results in Shooting





Saturday night, an unlawful gathering of several hundred people at the Howe Park area in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area became the scene of a shooting when 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were in the midst of breaking up the gathering.

How It Unfolded

Just after 6:30 PM, the SCSO received calls regarding individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park. Another caller mentioned a possible physical altercation and individuals fleeing the scene.

Law enforcement air support was sent to the area and surveyed the area from above but found no evidence of any ongoing altercation.

However, an estimated several hundred attendees had assembled at the location for what deputies referred to as an unapproved assembly. Deputies encircled the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out through their vehicle PA systems.

As law enforcement was clearing the area, 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the area — causing hundreds to flee in a panic.

Victims of the Shooting

Four individuals — a woman and three men, ranging in read more age through their 20s — were brought to area medical facilities. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one suffered moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four were said to be in stable condition. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was on scene and assisted at the location.

What Was Found at the Scene

The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way side side of the park adjacent to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The click here Home Depot store was placed under temporary lockdown. More shell casings were discovered on Cottage Way, with more info bullet holes found in the metal fence around the nearby Home Depot — pointing more info to gunfire directed south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. CSI units and detectives processed the scene into the night.

The Suspect Vehicle

Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — a Kia — was contacted in nearby Solano County with four people in custody. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were traveling to collect those detained and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation. Footage confirmed that two individuals here fired weapons.
